Researching 2D Unity game Tutorials

Before development was initiated, we needed to figure out where and how to start. Initially, we began to consider starting from the beginnin by, rather not using an engine, and initiating with only eclipse and libGDX.
These platforms are compilers for multiple programming languages, eclipse focusing more on java, and libGDX for C# android platform. However, after two-three days worth of research on game development on these platforms it became very clear that would not be able to generate a satisfactory product within a certain period.
After much delegation,research, we have concluded that the unity engine would be the only option that we have, to develop the game within the 8 week period provided by our lecturer and course leader.
